February 27, 2019 – Alexander Marine International, the importer of Ocean Alexander yachts, is pleased to announce the recent world debut of the Divergence 45’ – the first outboard Ocean Alexander model – at the 2019 Miami Yacht Show. This new model also includes a unique, patented feature of a door-within-a-door fold-out bulwark (US Pat. No. 10,106,227).
Designed by Evan Marshall, the Divergence 45 is a center-console design powered by four Mercury Verado 350 engines. In addition to being the first-ever outboard model for Ocean Alexander, the Divergence is also the smallest production boat designed by Marshall. Marshall is a renowned designer of megayachts and this is his first entry into the center console market.
Some of the most unique features of the Divergence 45 are the patented door-within-a-door fold-out bulwarks on both port and starboard sides. This is the first US patent secured by Alexander Marine. “During the design process, we realized how innovative and unique this concept was and acted to protect this creativity. The boat has a standard beam of 13’9” and when both bulwarks are extended, the beam becomes 19’1”, giving immense space in the cockpit area. When the bulwarks are up, the door-within-a-door act as boarding entries from either side of the boat. When the bulwark is extended, you can also open the door and it becomes an easy access point,” adds inventor Richard Allender.
The Divergence 45 is built at the Merritt Island facility, where the Ocean Alexander 70e is also manufactured. The Divergence 45 also includes a wide list of options so that customers can tailor this boat to fit their exact boating needs. Between the choices of hull paint color, upholstery options, interior woods, and table styles, there are over 400 cosmetic variations available. “We feel that the flexibility in how the boat can be configured will really appeal to the consumer. It’s the perfect family boat, able to be specified to fit each family’s needs. Whether you want some extra rod holders for the casual fisher, or you want scuba tank storage for those that like to run over to the islands, there’s something on this 45 for everyone,” adds Sally Doleski, VP of Marketing.
